Description
Title: Memento Mori
History: Original design by Erich Campbell – Inspired by the genre of artworks and decorations (often bearing the latin phrase, “memento mori” that are designed to be a reminder to the viewer of their own mortality (generally conveying meaning that one should never forget that their current station in life is impermanent). Though popularly thought to have originated in classical Rome, it came into it’s own in the later medieval period, continuing on into the Victorian era, even continuing into colonial America. Skulls are often part of memento mori pieces.
