Title: Pitney Brooch (Outline)
History: Based on an openwork Anglo-Scandinavian brooch dating to the second half of the 11th century CE. This piece combines early medieval Scandinavian and English styles of decoration, and is very reminiscent of the Scandinavian Urnes style, though the scalloped border is an Anglo-Saxon feature.
